Now a doctor on ‘Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka’

It is normal for any individual to be concerned about their family. However, if the concern turns into persistent determination it can make one lose their piece of mind. This was the case with Dr. Rajeev Gupta and though a doctor by profession, he was never able to treat his own anxiety pangs.

He was always troubled worrying that he and his family will suffer some serious misfortune. On learning about Imagine’s “Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka’, Rajeev decided to participate and uncover the core reasons for his dilemma.

Our source informs, “During his journey into his past life with Dr. Trupti Jayin, Dr. Rajeev saw himself as 25-30 year old Suresh Sharma who lived in a small village near Ludhiana. Suresh and Sukhdev had a dispute over land. In retaliation, Sukhdev demolished Suresh’s house leaving Suresh and his mother to fend for themselves on the streets. Life takes a serious turn for Suresh who unable to cope up with the circumstances takes a drastic step.”

“Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka was a marvelous experience and I will cherish it forever. The details that have come out from my experience have been pretty astonishing and have amazed me. I can definitely relate to the fear I have harbored in this life with the incidences in my past life”, said Dr. Rajeev Gupta.

'I never cry in real life' : vindoo dara singh

'I never cry in real life' : vindoo dara singh

Ever since Vindu Dara Singh won the third season of Bigg Boss, he cannot stop smiling. When he chatted with Rediff readers yesterday, he continued to be in a really good mood, and gave some really interesting insights into his life and Bigg Boss.

For those who missed the chat, here's the transcript:

Vindu Dara Singh says, Hi everyone. Thanks for logging on. Would love to chat with you guys!

raj asked, Hi Vindu I am in Germany but I never really missed watching your performance. It was straight from the heart and original. nothing fake. You are a simple person but eventually you proved simply the best. How did you manage so much of patience and tolerance even even when all other people in the house were against you all the time?

Vindu Dara Singh answers, I am happy that you understood the kind of person that I am. And it was Poonam, another housemate, who made me patient, when the whole house was against me. God and my family were always on my mind.

naveed asked, what was your strategy that worked for you? plotting or no plotting against your fellow housemates?

Vindu Dara Singh answers, I never plotted, ever. And the video you guys saw was Raju asking me who I was irritated with. I never lie, so I would tell him that the dirty guys have to go. And that was a time when Bhaktiyar was the dirtiest.

gaurav asked, hello vindu...we simply love u becaus of your honesty.

Vindu Dara Singh answers, It's very easy to be honest, and very difficult to lie. Because a lie will make you lie a thousand times. But an honest answer, you'll never have to justify it. So please never lie.

Harsh Vadalia asked, who was ur best friend from the Bigg Boss house? Raju or Poonam?

Vindu Dara Singh answers, Both, but I loved Ismail and Vinod.

Shruti asked, A big congrats to desh ka jaat :) - We all love u and Poonam - Wish u all the best in ur carrer further, wld like to see u more. My say to u is - "Dont share ur prize money with fake selfish people like Aditi, Tanaaz who dont know the respect being given to a such a senior lady age wise and potentially too - and then telling about what cultural values are - Be friends with Poonam

Vindu Dara Singh answers, I just spoke to Poonamji and have a party planned for tomorrow. I shall invite all the Bigg Boss contestants, and for the last time meet some of them. Because I promised them a party while I was in the house.

koushik asked, Do u cry that much in real life or it was on screen drama to gather more vote?

Vindu Dara Singh answers, I never cry in real life. But that House made me cry like a baby. And the love that I'm getting from all of you is still not letting me stop. I thought that my last tear was shed when I left that house, but the country's love is making me cry out of happiness. When I'm angry, my fists work.

drockdrock asked, if u r asked to go to house again either with Pravesh or Verma, whom will you choose?

Vindu Dara Singh answers, Verma.

pankaj asked, Hi Vindu, Congratulation to u , first time I voted in any of reality show is for u, don't you think one need not to tell that he/she is a good person (which definitely you are ) and should be left for others to make decision?

Vindu Dara Singh answers, I would never boast, but in that house they made me feel I was the worst guy on Earth. And I don't believe that, so I had to let everyone know that I was better than all of them.

chats 54@rediffmail. com asked, Hello sir! i am sure ur father must b proud to see u winning the game n m glad to see ur emotional side as well! Sir now after wining this hude money what r ur plan to contribute to India

Vindu Dara Singh answers, I love my country and have already told many people that whenever they need me for any good cause, I shall be there for free.

pom asked, hi Vindu do you think if bakhtiyar had stayed in the house he could have defeated you because Amitji said that he got the maximum votes whenever he was nominated?

Vindu Dara Singh answers, Not in this lifetime. Amitji kept his heart and didn't want to hurt him. That's all.

koushik asked, Did you (along with all other Bigg Boss participants) get daily allowance or some contract amount for staying in Bigg Boss house?

Vindu Dara Singh answers, Yes. Weekly payments. So if you stayed for three weeks, you were paid accordingly. The prize money was only for the winner. And guess who that was!

vaibhav asked, vindhu ...1 question I always wanted to ask .....you are much stronger than Parvesh ...then why didnt you bash him when he was doing all that rubush stuff ... he even humiliated the food .....you didnt u tell him that he is an absolute idiot

Vindu Dara Singh answers, Amitabh Bachchan made me promise that I will not hit anybody in there. And I will die before I break a promise to the great man. And I did tell him that he was an idiot, when he spoke in front of the kids.

biggb asked, hi vindu... how does it feel to be back with the family after such a long time

Vindu Dara Singh answers, Feels great! I missed my family like crazy, and it's always good to be with people you can trust blindly.

Ash offered to host a chat show on TV

Ash offered to host a chat show on TV

Barely has the Big B concluded hosting Bigg Boss 3, we hear that he has been roped in for the next season, apparently at a much heftier fee than the reported Rs 1.5 crore he was paid per episode. The show begins in the second-half of 2010, after Abhishek’s game show Bingo plays itself out.

Amitabh Bachchan says, “There are some other television offers. I’m considering them. It wouldn’t be prudent to mention their names at this point. Yes, the channel has expressed a desire to continue the relationship.”

They are also going all out to woo Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, apparently to host a chat show. Convincing Aishwarya at this stage of her career when her calendar is full is proving to be problematic.

But as a senior person from the channel says, “We’re on the job. We never planned to get both, Mr Bachchan and Abhishek. But now that they’re on, we’re getting ambitious.” Apparently they plan to rope in the entire Bachchan parivar in one capacity or another.

Meanwhile, Abhishek is gearing up for his debut as a TV host on the show National Bingo Night. He says, “I have been getting quite a few offers in the recent past for television. I loved the show as it has a special connect with the viewers. They can participate, play the game and win sitting at home. I loved the uniqueness of the theme.”

Talking about competing with his father who has just finished hosting Bigg Boss 3, he says, “I don’t think about these things or I will lose focus. Once I am in front of the camera, I am going to be myself. I have always maintained that it is a great honour to be compared to the best. I will do what I have to do which is to go out there, play the game with the contestants and have fun on the show.”

Abhishek Bachchan to start Aaram classes on Colors

Abhishek Bachchan to start Aaram classes on Colors

For the past few weeks, viewers of Colors were treated to a series of promos of Abhishek Bachchan reclining on an easy lazy boy chair or dozing in a cozy bed announcing the launch of his ‘Aaram Classes’. Abhishek Aaram Classes is the engagement platform for the new show Bingo slowly being revealed to the nation. This show with an innovative international concept is being produced by Fox Television Studios India Pvt. Ltd and for the first time ever superstar Abhishek Bachchan will be making his appearance on television as a host with IDEA ‘National Bingo Night’!

An interactive game the show not only has the studio contestant but also the studio audience and the television viewers participating in a game in real time! Playing two fast paced rounds of the popular guessing game ‘Bingo’ where the studio contestant plays one of many in-studio games, which is driven by the game ball numbers. The others meanwhile have to predict the numbers and match them with the tickets that will be handed out to them. It’s a game where not intellect but luck and good guesswork determines the winners!

Describing the show further was none other than the newest celebrity on Indian television, Abhishek Bachchan who said, "National Bingo Night is a fun filled show where the whole country will be my guest without applying any brains or answer any difficult questions. This is such a chilled out concept and something that has never been done before in India. The sheer simplicity of the idea and the fact that this show is highly interactive is what attracted me to it. The idea here is that it’s a show which is to be enjoyed by relaxing! That’s why we came up with the concept of Aaram Classes…we want people to chill out and play this game. There’s no stress, no tension involved at all! So tune in to learn ‘aaram’ and get ready for Bingo”

After Big B, it’s now Bachchan Jr’s turn to host game show on Colors

After Big B, it’s now Bachchan Jr’s turn to host game show on Colors

After wrapping up ‘Big Boss – 3’, Colors is all set to launch a new game show, called ‘Idea National Bingo Night’, which will be hosted by Abhishek Bachchan. This show will mark Bachchan Junior’s debut on the small screen.

The channel chose to let the development unveil itself rather than tom-toming about it. According to Rameet Arora, Head - Marketing, Colors, had they just announced Abhishek Bachchan’s association with Colors in a straightforward manner, it wouldn’t have crated half the buzz that it currently had.

He added, “When we decided to do this show, we knew that the promotion had to be unique because when we analysed the nature of this show, we realised that it did not involve any application of brains or IQ or answering tough questions or engaging in any strenuous physical activity. ‘Aaram’ is almost aspirational and hence, we decided to combine the concept of the show along with Abhishek’s charm to create an interesting campaign.”

The announcement of this collaboration was done in a rather interesting way during the ‘Big Boss - 3’ finale that was telecast on December 26, 2009. It started with a telephone conversation between Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan, which led the viewers to a video of the ‘Aaram Classes’ to break Bingo.

To premise of the show is that one does not need to do anything to win and that the only skill required is the ability to chill, lay back and enjoy. This idea was executed in different ways by Orchard, the creative agency that has worked on the campaign.

To promote the concept of ‘aaram’, a 360 degree campaign has been launched, which includes teaser ads, outdoor innovations and a host of digital innovations. A website, www.abhishekaaramclasses.com, has been launched, wherein users can test their ‘aarami quotient’, get free ‘aarami’ tips, etc. It is claimed that over 6,000 users have joined the ‘I Am Aarami’ community on Facebook, while over 1,600 people are following ‘I am Aarami’ on Twitter. The teaser campaign was launched a week back, and the word ‘Aarami’ has already been picked up by the net savvy audience.

The outdoor innovations too reinforce the ‘aaram’ concept. For instance, a key hoarding in five cities has been replaced by a giant pillow that says, ‘Abhishek Aaram Classes’.

‘Idea National Bingo Night’ is slated to launch by January-end. While Rameet Arora refused to the TVRs expected from the show, he believed that the number woul be substantial as the show aimed to target entire families in the Hindi speaking markets.

‘Idea National Bingo Night’ is a game show with an international format originally owned by 20th Century Fox Television Distribution, and which has run in the US, Australia and the Philippines.

Will Abhishek Bachchan sport a metrosexual appearance for Bingo?

Will Abhishek Bachchan sport a metrosexual appearance for Bingo?

The popular entertainment channel on television, Colors has been running ads where Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan has been urging people to join his Aaram Classes.

In these promos of the soon to be launched game show called National Bingo Night, Abhishek is seen in colors that resonate with the metrosexual style of dressing.

Will the same kind of appearance be carried on by the actor when the game show actually goes on air?

Abhishek seems quite comfortable in this look worked out for him and many would say it is in tune with the cool dude attitude the host of such a show should possess.

Top 10 happenings on the small screen in 2009

Top 10 happenings on the small screen in 2009

As the year comes to a close we bring to you the 10 most talked about happenings in the Indian Television industry. While some were breaking news, some others were shocking and scandalous to say the least. Take a look…
1.Big B in Bigg Boss 3 – When the glam Shilpa Shetty host of Bigg Boss 2 got caught up with her wedding , Big B was roped in to play the role of Pop Philospher. It was a return to Television for Amitabh Bachchan who was to be the link between the show’s participants and its viewers, analysing developments that happen within the ‘Bigg Boss’ house. Well as claimed by the makers, it really couldn’t get any bigger than this.

2.Truth was hard to digest - Sex, Lies and Polygraphy test were on everybody’s mind as Sach Ka Saamna anchored by Rajeev Khandelwal got the participants to answer up, close and personal questions. Many a skeletons tumbled out of the closet and not only celebs but the common man too became a topic of hot discussion in homes, offices as well as the Parliament. The show got free publicity and everyone is eagerly waiting for season 2 which is to start in the New Year.

3.Laughter therapy from SAB TV – While many other channels struggled to survive this year, SAB TV stayed strong and loyal to its concept of dishing out fresh new comedy one after the other and at a successful rate too. SAB’s fresh, clean programming and healthy, light hearted content which could be enjoyed by all in the family turned out to be its USP ensuring it had a 200 percentGRP growth for the year 2009. Their current shows that rule the roost are Lapataganj, Sajan Re Jhoot Mat Bolo, Shree Adi Manav, Sonu Sweety, Maniben.com, Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah, Jugni Chali Jalandhar, FIR and Laughter Yoga each with a distinct flavor of its own!

4.Rani Mukherjee on DPL – After the Box Office witnessed the super miserable failure of ‘Dil Bole Haddipa’ Rani Muherjee had no other option than to come in as the judge on DPL (Dance Premiere League), a dance talent hunt show on Sony. A slot earlier supposed to be filled in by Madhuri Dixit who could not make it, was taken up by Rani who made a vain attempt to stay in the limelight.

5.Shraddha Nigam – Karan Singh Grover break up- While reality shows were here to stay no one ever thought that they would bring along with them controversies galore not all created by the PR machinery, mind you! Sony’s ‘Jhalak Dikhlaja 3’ saw some groovy moves from contestant Karan Singh Grover thanks to his choreographer Nicole who taught him more than just some mean dance moves. It is rumoured that she was also the reason for the couple’s break up. Shraddha who would be seen cheering the duo during the show almost went underground when she found out that her hubby was two timing on her. Karan did not comment on the rumors doing the rounds and the newly married couple’s split sent some shocking waves through their Television industry.

6.Vindu wins Bigg Boss 3 – Whoever had thought that Dara Singh’s son who had never seen any kind of success in the entertainment industry and who was seen as a rash participant in Bigg Boss 3 would finally end up winning the show. He rubbed many other participants the wrong way while at the same time was seen crying and talking to the camera while in the Bigg Boss house. While the others loved to hate him Vindu carried on with his risqué behaviour nonetheless. What did it get him? Well, a booty of one crore, a swish car and a big smile to match.

7.Swayamvars on Television
– The show Rakhi ka Swayamvar was to end with the controversial oomph girl’s shaadi on Indian television. The channel NDTV Imagine benefited with the show getting it never before seen TRPs but the shaadi never happened with Rakhi Sawant backtracking at the last minute. Next in line is Rahul Mahajan, another controversial candidate who is all set to choose a girl in a show called ‘Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega’! This seems to be possible as of now when one sees the enthusiasm with which Rahul is scanning all the entries right from the audition.

8.Scandals galore on MTV Splitsvilla 2
– The show turned as scandalous as it could get with the ousted contestants labouring charges of unusual favours being exchanged on the show. There were many reports in the press about what transpired behind the scenes when the cameras stopped rolling. Amongst others VJ Nikhil Chinappa too was caught in the mud slinging but ultimately got out of it.

9.FB helps casting - Twitter and Facebook was like a much awaited outlet for the entertainment industry with actors putting in their comments and candid pictures up for public view. One guy who really benefited from this all was Karan Kundra who uploaded his pix on FB and sent them to Queen K – Ekta Kapoor who was co-incidentally looking for a new guy to play the main lead. Karan got the chance of his lifetime when she liked his pix and he bagged the main lead in Balaji’s ‘Kitni Mohabbar Hai’. He is now seen in ‘Bayttab Dil Ki Tamanna Hai’.

10.YRF on TV- Yash Chopra after ruling the Hindi film industry for so many years announced YRF’s grand plans to make a mark on Television. The year end saw the grand announcement of five programmes from the YRF stable with a promise of Indian television turning red from 1st January. Well, let’s wait and watch!

Reality bites television in 2009 as 'saas-bahu' take backseat

Reality bites television in 2009 as 'saas-bahu' take backseat

Be it the reality shows or reality-based soaps, the small screen this year was all about getting close to people's lives while fairy-tale sagas became a passe.

A horde of issue-based serials were prompted by Balika Vadhu last year and 2009 saw daily soaps finally departing from the world of rich urban families to give way to more 'real' ones.

Shows which reflect the lives of people who actually watch them have become a fad now. Each one represents a certain problem, section or phenomenon in the society, like Na Ana Is Des Lado dealing with the issue of discrimination against girl child and Uttaran, the rags-to-riches story of an orphan girl.

Some new ones have come up at the end of the year, like Pratigya which has the female protagonist fighting against eve-teasing and Tere Mere Sapne addressing the problem of people migrating from villages to cities in search of a living.

"We are not a saas-bahu channel anymore. We have come up with new shows like Tere Mere Sapne and Pratigya in order to connect well with the audience," said Anupam Basudev, marketing EVP, Star Plus.

Middle class families and rural backgrounds have become a favourite with channels in an attempt to bring the audience closer to the shows.

"Its as if our own life's stories are being shown on TV," said Gayatri, a homemaker, who regularly watches 12/24 Karol Bagh', the story of a middle class family living in Delhi.

The rural setting and dialect has been skillfully utilised in Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo, which has the female protagonist bearing the yoke of her family in a village in North India.

Interestingly, the series replaced the long running K-serial Kasamh Se on the same channel.

"The serial bears the essence of the rural culture of India. The clothes we wear and the language we speak on the show is deeply connected to the soil," said Roopa Ganguly, who plays a major character in Agle Janam...

There were some major innovations in terms of reality shows as well. Almost every aspect of human life has been explored this year in the form of some or the other reality show.

Sach Ka Saamna created a furore even in the parliament with people protesting against the show's way of making people confess the deepest secrets in their lives.

The hype around marriage was tactfully encashed in Perfect Bride, which brought two lives together and also executed the first real marriage on television.

Drama queen Rakhi Sawant gave the people of the nation a chance to become her fiance in Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, which became one of the most popular reality shows of 2009.

The show is going to have a second season with Rahul Mahajan, son of politician Pramod Mahajan, looking for his prospective wife.

Family life became the subject of a reality show once again with Sawant starring in Pati Patni Aur Woh, which also had other TV actors trying to manage an entire family.

Sawant, who found a life partner on a reality show, used another to dump him publicly, all this while managing good TRP for the channel.

Former IPS officer Kiran Bedi is presented as a judge in Aap Ki Kachehri to solve problems in lives of people and Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka journeys back in time to establish the connection between the present and past lives of people.

As new concepts have come up, the popularity surrounding talent hunt shows have waned a bit. The third season of Bigg Boss also could not generate much interest despite having megastar Amitabh Bachchan as host.

Some older reality shows have held their forte on youth channels, like Roadies and Splitsvilla, prompting other channels to come up with shows like Dare to Date and Kidnap.

The Most Shocking Moments on TV

The Most Shocking Moments on TV

This year was truly the year of reality television, as even the hugely popular saas-bahu soaps took a backseat to them. But what explains Reality TV's newfound popularity? Is it the back-biting? The controversies? The unpredictability? All of that and more, actually.

Some of 2009's most shocking Reality TV moments:

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar

Rakhi Sawant shocked the nation when she announced her plan to find a suitable life partner through a reality show called Rakhi Ka Swayamvar.

But this fairy tale didn't have a happy ending, as the show didn't culminate with a wedding on the finale. Instead, there was an engagement, with Elesh Parunjanwala making the cut.

Rakhi and Elesh went on to 'play parents' in another reality show called Pati, Patni Aur Woh but very soon, the couple parted ways because they just could not get along. The item girl claims that Elesh had entered Rakhi Ka Swayamvar only to earn some free publicity.

Recently, Rakhi was invited on another reality show Perfect Bride on Star Plus to share marriage tips with the contestants. Wonder what tips she would have given them considering her current status?

Bigg Boss 3

-> Kamal Rashid Khan was unceremoniously dumped from the Bigg Boss house for, amongst other things, hurling a water bottle at housemate Rohit Verma. The bottle missed its mark but ended up hitting actress Shamita Shetty.

The actor had major tiff with almost all the housemates of Bigg Boss, like Bhakhtyar Irani, Raju Srivastav and Pravesh Rana. The rest of the housemates found his antics too much to handle, and asked for him to be removed from the show.

-> Bigg Boss was quite a controversial show while it lasted, and saw another major one at its pool party.

Aditi Govitrikar and Tanaaz Irani decided to pull a prank on Raju Srivastav and pulled off his pants. Unluckily for them, he wasn't wearing any underwear, and onlookers were horrified.

Though the incident was shown in the promos, it was finally edited out of the show.

MTV Splitsvilla 2

MTV Splitsvilla 2 contestants spilled the beans on what happens when the cameras aren't looking.

They alleged that contestants were forced to give sexual favours to crew members including, to the surprise of many, host Nikhil Chinappa. The channel was quick to dismiss the claims as a case of collective sour grapes.

Sach Ka Saamna

Was India really ready for the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Apparently not, as Sach Ka Saamna, jolted viewers -- including Indian politicians -- rallied against its alleged 'vulgarity'.

Nothing bothered Star Plus, as the channel has already announced plans for season two.

Among other scandalous moments in the show, cricketer Vinod Kambli confessed that during his darkest moments, his 'friend' Sachin Tendulkar wasn't there for him. Tendulkar now considers his friendship with him as an embarrassment. Kambli also revealed that he felt discriminated because of his caste and colour by the cricket board.

Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao

-> We've seen bikinis on the big screen. Now, how about the small screen?

Thanks to Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao, we saw one of television's favourite bahus, Shweta Tiwari, bikini-clad and taking a bath in front of the camera.

After Nigar Khan entered the show, all the men in it got an eyeful when she woke up early in the morning, wrapped herself in a towel and headed off to the bathing area, wearing the tiniest of bikinis. Yowza!

-> You thought we were done with Iss Jungle Se Mujhe Bachao? Not by a long shot, as this show had all sorts of controversy.

Television actor Jay Bhanushali threatened to quit the show when singer Mika Singh sprung a huge shocker and pulled Jay's pants down.

The guys were chatting in the jungle, late at night, when suddenly Mika surprised an unsuspecting Jay with his crazy act. A shocked and angry Jay wasted no time in walking away in a huff, ready to leave with his bags, even as Mika and other cast-members continued laughing at him.

Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega

Following the footsteps of Rakhi Sawant, Rahul Mahajan will be seen soon as a groom-to-be in a new reality show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega.

Son of slain Bharatiya Janata Party leader Pramod Mahajan, Rahul surpassed the popularity of item girl Rakhi Sawant, as he received 40 percent more entries than her for his televised swayamvar.

This would be a second marriage for Rahul, who became a known name in the entertainment sector post-Bigg Boss 2. He was earlier married to Shweta, with whom he tied the knot in 2006, but the couple parted ways last year.

Rahul Mahajan is on cloud 9 these days with a music video on his Swayamvar on air.

To promote Swayamvar Season 2: Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega, Imagine has released a music video featuring him with a bunch of item girls.

Seasoned with peppy beats, catchy lyrics and tadkedaar latkas-jhatkas, Rahul’ s music video premiered on December 7.

All the naach-gaana-bajaana that adds to the wedding flavour has been kept alive by choreographer Devang Desai, said Imagine’s official website.

Talking about his experience, Rahul said, “I am extremely honoured to have a music video made in my name and I thank Imagine for this. I never ever thought I would be dancing on screen with a bunch of beautiful talented ladies and that too for a music video!”

“This entirely new and innovative approach by the channel caught my interest and I am very excited to be a part of it,” he added.

India's first test tube baby explores past life on Raaz Picchle Janam Ka

Kruti Parekh, India’s first test tube baby, regressed back to her past life on Imagine’s ‘Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka’ to find an explanation for her inborn magical ability.

From a baby that created a milestone in the Indian history to being India’s youngest magician; Kruti (now twenty four), has been special in every way.

When other girls would play with dolls, Kruti would hone her talent of magic.

She has demonstrated her magical abilities such as penetrating through the Great Wall of China, making elephants or a helicopter disappear and much more all over the world.

In spite of immense success, a thought provokes her – Why am I a special child with God-gifted powers?

On learning about ‘Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka’, Kruti decided to explore her connections of magic, luck, success and spirituality in her past lives with the help of prominent psychologist Dr. Trupti Jayin.

During regression, Kruti saw herself as a King of an island in the 6th century. She practiced the art of magic at a Gurukul (school) along with a friend and saved the island from certain negative powers.

Kruti said, “Earlier, I would tell everyone that magic is my birth right because I am born by the magic of science. But after undergoing regression, I realize the strong connection of my past life with my talents such as magic, mind & training since that was the time when I actually learnt the art.”

Interestingly, Kruti also discovered that her interest in studies is associated with yet another past life where she was a researcher.

Fire played havoc in past life of Kulwinder Kaur

Fire played havoc in past life of Kulwinder Kaur

It was eerie, the way she got flashes from her past life, ever since she was three years old. Even the slightest contact with fire caused her suffocation and immense pain.

When Kulwinder Kaur from New Delhi heard about Imagine’s Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka, she registered to participate in the show to find out if it had any connection with her past life.

What came out in regression was a shocking revelation for Kulwinder and her family. When Kulwinder underwent regression with the help of renowned clinical psychologist, Dr Trupti Jayin, she saw herself as a young college going girl named Simran Kaur in as early as 1980s. Simran was forced into marriage by her parents while she was studying. Soon after the wedding, Simran’s mother-in-law started torturing her on the pretext of dowry. On one dreadful day, Simran was burnt to death by her mother-in-law in that life. Everyone was made to believe that her death was caused by accident, including her then husband (Baljeet Singh Oberoi).

A shocked Kulwinder says, “I used to feel that my parents in this life are not my parents. The house in which I am living is not my house. I was scared to death of fire, but never knew that fire would have such a dreadful connection with my previous life. I appeal to all those girls who are being tormented by their in-laws for dowry to raise their voice against it. I would not want any more girls to end up like Simran.” Watch Kulwinder’s indescribable story of past life with Ravi Kishaan and Dr Trupti Jayin on Raaz Pichhle Janam Ka, today at 9.30 pm on NDTV Imagine.

‘I did not want to win at the cost of my dignity’ - Poonam Dhillon

‘I did not want to win at the cost of my dignity’ - Poonam Dhillon

Bigg Boss second runner-up Poonam Dhillon has not changed her colors after the event unlike Vindoo and Pravesh and maintains the same calmness that she displayed inside the Lonavala Bunglow.

Here is the graceful actress in a frank chit chat

How did you feel on losing out on the final day?

I don't feel I lost. As for as I am concerned, all the three finalists are winners. Look at Pravesh Rana, being a commoner he reached till the very end, thanks to his popularity. The love and respect that I got from the public, especially women has overwhelmed me. It is more than made up for all the trouble I undertook during the stay like going to jail etc. It's not that I did not want to win, but not at the cost of my dignity.

What did you come here for?

I wanted the generation of my children to know me. And I feel I have succeeded, for my son told me 'Mom I am proud of you'.

What do you feel about a woman losing again?

I look at things differently. At least a woman did reach the finals. The fair sex seems to have different priorities. For us our children always come first, may be that was the reason why they forget to vote as well.

Do you think that your lack of drama may have cost you?

I can't be aggressive and loud. Some people actually thought that my calmness was a game plan, but I am like this only. I only opened my mouth towards the end when Aditi Gowitrikar dragged my children into the mix which was wrong. I know about her family but kept quite. May be she got insecure about me. I prefer to deal with rivalry in a different manner. I will never put down my opponents or insult them.

Recently Kamal Khan was quoted as saying that you only do 'Paat' and cook?

He seems to consider throwing bottles, abusing and fighting, as better options to gain popularity.

How did you spend the 84 days?

At first I was worried whether I will be able to live without my Blackberry and computer, but soon I was pretty cool without these communication devices. What I really missed were my books and I tried to make up for it by cooking.

Did you miss your kids?

Yes I did. I was bit anxious about my son's entrance exams. But I was not worried as his father and my sisters were around to guide him.

Is it necessary to play the game?

You need to be a drama queen, for if everybody is just eating and sitting quietly, it would be no fun. So Bigg Boss introduced certain tasks as psychological ploys to incite drama; some worked while few did not.

How did you deal with the stress?

I did not have any major issues, but those with weak family support structures like Rohit Verma and Sheryln Chopra did crumble under pressure. Even Bakhtiyaar Irani seemed to loose his cool often.

Your take on the winner Vindoo Dara Singh?

Vindoo is a real nice friend; he respected me a lot and would always praise me.

What next?

I had voluntarily quit films so that I could be with my kids. Now they themselves are telling me to do my own thing. Let's see what projects I get now.

Vindu used emotions to win Bigg Boss 3, Rupali Ganguly effect??

Vindu used emotions to win Bigg Boss 3, Rupali Ganguly effect??

Vindu Dara Singh, the son of veteran wrestler and actor Dara Singh who won the third season of Bigg Boss by defeating former Mr. India Pravesh Rana and bollywood actress Poonam Dhillon in the finals, may not be that emotional as he showed himself to be on the Amitabh Bachchan- hosted reality show.

There is a strong buzz doing the rounds in the industry that Vindu Dara Singh just might be following the example set by earlier contestant Rupali Ganguly. Vindu Dara Singh’s shedding tears over every small matter in the Bigg Boss 3 house resembled to Rupali Ganguly’s effort at gaining sympathy of the audience in Bigg Boss 2.

Even Raju Shrivastava, another contestant on Bigg Boss 3, had commented that Vindu had taken birth of a ‘man’ but sheds buckets of tears like a ‘woman’. In fact, Raju Shrivastava had gone on mocking Vindu on the show by saying that what would his wrestler father Dara Singh think of him after watching the show.

However, while Vindoo Dara Singh’s effort at gaining sympathy of the audiences through crying became successful, Rupali’s effort had miserably failed and she was evicted from the house. This theory attributes this success on the part of Vindoo to the fact that when a man sheds tears, it seems something unconventional, but it is not so in the matter of a women (like Rupali).

The above theorists cite the example of Vindoo Dara Singh on the stage with Big B after winning the jackpot of Rs one crore. They point out that Vindoo did not show his emotional nature outside the house, not to speak of shedding tears from his eyes.

However, it can not be disputed that Vindoo was the most honest person on the show. Just recall his admission that he had not earned that much of money at one go before Bigg Boss 3 win. He even attributed his success to ‘Janata Ka Aadesh’ and blessings of his family, especially father Dara Singh.

Even if he was faking his emotional nature on the reality show, Vindoo’s disarming honesty entitled him to be the winner of the bigg boss 3. In fact, of all the contestants on the show, only Vindoo was the person who had been speaking his mind freely without any malice towards anybody.

Bigg Boss winner Vindu speaks of Shahrukh Khan, Sourav Ganguly and Amelia whom he wants to kiss 1000 times

All eyes were glued to the TV sets this Saturday, as the winner of Bigg Boss 3 was announced and the head that wore the crown was of Vindu Dara Singh, the son of wrestler-turned-actor Dara Singh (still known by the ageing minds as the ‘Hanuman’ of Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan).

Emerging out from the dreaded house, he, in a brief interview, thanked the Calcuttans. “Earlier this year, I had gone to South Africa with Shah Rukh Khan to cheer for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL. There I met Akshay and people from the Colors team and that’s how I landed up in the show. I am a KKR man, I am a Ganguly fan,” he remarked.

When quizzed on what’s the 1st thing he’d do, now that he’s out of the virtual jail, Vindu turns a tad sentimental and quips, “I will kiss my daughter Amelia a thousand times. I will touch my mother and father’s feet and I will party the whole night with my friends. My life’s just started.”

Vindoo on top of the world

Vindoo on top of the world

He was the last man standing in Bigg Boss Season 3 and though he has bagged Rs1 crore and a car, success hasn't sunk in yet for Vindoo Dara Singh. The actor admits that it is because of Akshay Kumar that he went inside the house which has changed his life altogether. "I remember I met Akshay abroad in a hotel during the shooting of Khatron Ke Khiladi. I just told him that they were planning the third season of Bigg Boss and I always wanted to be there. He treats me like a brother and told me that he will put in a word. I credit my success to him. Without Akshay, I would not have been in the house," he says.

With congratulatory messages still pouring in from viewers and his friends like Akshay, Suniel Shetty and Sajid Khan, he is basking in the success that has eluded him for a long time. "I know I was always known as Dara Singh's son and I never became an actor with immense popularity. But I was happy with my share of earnings and I was never out of work. Moreover, Bigg Boss wasn't like I did something extraordinary; I just went in and was being myself. This is the best thing that has happened to me till now and I am just hoping that the win brings me good work," he adds.

The actor is already flooded with offers from South Indian films and TV shows. "Tanaaz, Bakhtiyaar or Pravesh can bark but I know that the country loves me and would like to see me in shows. Sajid (Khan) told me that now people will write characters for me. It's overwhelming."

Out of his inmates, he is firm on being friends with Poonam Dhillon, Ismail Darbar, Raju Shrivastava. "I would be only calling them. Others can call me and I will have no grudges while answering them like a friend but I am not going to be calling

I participated in Bigg Boss to connect with next gen: Poonam Dhillon

Had she won, actress Poonam Dhillon would have become the first woman to win the Bigg Boss show.

However, even after being pipped by Vindoo Dara Singh, the yesteryear Bollywood star says she has no regrets because she participated in the show to connect to a younger audience, and the target has been achieved.

"According to me, though all the three participants were good, only one could win," Poonam said after being declared the second runner-up of the show.

While Vindoo won the show, former Mr India Pravesh Rana was declared the first runner-up.

"My children and their generation are oblivious to the stardom I have enjoyed in my heydays. I participated in Bigg Boss so that the younger generation comes to know about me and respect me," Poonam told reporters here today adding that her purpose has been achieved after staying in the house for 84 long days.

On the experience as a whole, the Noorie star said, "Initially I missed my computer for a few days. But later on, I learnt to live sans all the communication gadgets we are so used to nowadays. I also missed reading as I am a voracious reader. I think I compensated the absence of books by spending all the time I had in kitchen," she said.

'I have no grudge against Rohit Verma' : Pravesh Rana

'I have no grudge against Rohit Verma' : Pravesh Rana

Pravesh Rana was a strong contender to win the third season of Bigg Boss But even though he missed the big win to Vindu Singh, Pravesh is all praise for him.

When Amitabh Bachchan asked him to reveal the one thing no one knew about him, he said it was his respect for Vindu. "Even though I fought a lot with Vindu, in my heart, I always respected him," Pravesh said, adding, "He is a straightforward person and good at heart. I learnt three lessons from him -- owning up to any wrongs done, asking for forgiveness from the people you have hurt and admitting your mistakes and making sure you do not repeat them.

"Vindu deserved to win this show because he lived in the house for 84 days and I entered after four weeks," Pravesh adds. "Since this show is over, I consider him as a brother now. He was the best player."

Pravesh considers himself lucky to be a part of the show. "Nobody knew who I was before I came on this show though I won the title of Mr India World 2008. I came on this show through auditions, group discussions and interviews."

Pravesh claimed that the time he threw food in the swimming pool in order to starve housemates Vindu and Poonam Dhillon changed him as a person. He was later punished by Bigg Boss -- he was asked to fast for 24 hours, and prepare food and feed 10 poor children. The incident taught him a lesson on anger management.

Poonam and Vindu appear shocked to see food floating in the poolWill he stay in touch with the housemates? "Yes, I would love to," he answers. "I have no grudge against Rohit Verma . If he has changed as a person, I would love to be his friend."

What about Claudia, with whom Pravesh spent many close moments? "We were best friends in the house and will continue to remain good friends. But I wasn't involved with her (smiles)."

As Bigg Boss draws its curtains, Pravesh does not know what lies in store for him. "But I'm open to any good work," he signs off.

I would love to do more reality shows : Poonam Dhillon

I would love to do more reality shows : Poonam Dhillon

Poonam Dhillon was declared the second runner-up of Bigg Boss 3 last weekend, following winner Vindu Singh and Pravesh Rana . But she has no regrets. Her mission of connecting with a younger audience has been successful.

"It was a unique experience, living in Bigg Boss house for 84 days," Poonam said. "It would have been fantastic had I won but I am not sad that didn't.

"My children and their generation are not aware of the stardom I had enjoyed during my younger days. I participated in Bigg Boss so that the younger generation gets to know about me and be proud of me. I think my purpose has been fulfilled," she continued.

Poonam is quite happy with the way she conducted herself in the house. In fact, the actress did not get into any kind of controversy while she was inside. "My son said he was proud of me," Poonam said. "I am a quiet person, not too loud or dramatic. I heard that women liked me on this show. I have gained a lot of respect and that's worth it.

"Being calm and tolerant is a bigger achievement than being aggressive and losing your mind and dignity. I didn't want to win by doing that. Though all the three finalists were good only one could win," she added.

What did she miss most while she was inside the house? "Initially, I missed my computer," she answered. "But I learnt to live without gadgets. I am a voracious reader, so I missed reading too. I compensated the absence of books by spending all the time cooking (smiles)."

Did Poonam make any friends in Bigg Boss house? "After coming out of the house I got a warm welcome from Sherlyn Chopra , Rohit Verma , Jaya Sawant and Claudia. Sherlyn told me that she will treat me like her mother whether I will like it or not. Rohit echoed her feelings. So now I have two more children (smiles). Vindu has a lot of respect for me. He would constantly tell me how much he loved me. I don't need anything more than this because this is most important thing that you can earn in your life," she said.

Poonam was not comfortable with Aditi Govitrikar towards the end of the show. Aditi even said that she wouldn't like to see Poonam win the title. "I knew Aditi before coming on this show," Poonam clarifies. "She was nice to me for seven-eight weeks but towards the end, I felt she treated me like a rival. I know it's a game but I was surprised."

So will we see Poonam in more television shows? "I took part in the mother of all reality shows Bigg Boss. My children want me to work now. They feel they are big enough to care of themselves. Though I took a break from films to spend quality time with my children, I did some TV shows like Kitty Party and Andaaz. I would love to do more reality shows."

Amitji made me cry: Vindu

Amitji made me cry: Vindu

You’ve watched him take digs at his fellow contestants. You’ve also seen him cry like a baby over not-so-crucial issues. But despite topping the list of must-not-win-Bigg Boss contestants, Vindu Dara Singh has had the last laugh. Besides winning Bigg Boss 3, Vindu also took home a car for being the most stylist contestant, much to the disappointment of most of the housemates. Vindu, on his ups and downs in the house:

‘I’m the best, so is Poonamji’: Confident of his win since day 1, Vindu begins the interview with a question? “Didn’t you think I’d make it?” and replies, “Everybody has been reiterating the same point – my win is expected. In fact, the moment Poonamji’s name was declared for the third position, I knew I was the winner.” Vindu sounded moved by Poonam not being able to bag the award. “ Poonamji came across as the most mature person in the show. Unhone kisi ke saath durvyavhaar nahin kiya. Shayad unka sahi attitude hi unke liye galat ho gaya. Mujhe kaafi bura lag raha hai doosron ke liye jinhe kuch nahin mila bas samajh nahin ata ki kya karoon unke liye .” Did he expect her to win? “Yes, because these shows cater largely to female audience. So getting their votes wouldn’t have been a task,” he replies.

Pravesh Rana, a Bigg loser? Naah! Remember the verbal spat, which the utterance of word aukaat created between Vindu and Pravesh? Vindu feels Pravesh got what he deserved. “I don’t feel for him. Jeetne ki uski aukaat nahi thi ,” he says. Vindu is, however, convinced about the change in Pravesh’s life. “He’s changed ever since he realised how wrong he was in throwing the food items in the pool. My wife and brother are not wiling to accept this, nobody is, to be honest. But I know he has changed. Iss show se woh ek saaf dilwala banke nikla hai.”

At your service, ma’am: Of all the household chores - cleaning, doing dishes, cooking - Vindu says he washed the maximum utensils. “ Maine bahut kaam kiya hai . I happy that the stay also helped me learn how to cook daal and aloo gobhi and prepare dough,” reveals Vindu.

‘Amitji was like God’: What made him cry so much on the show? “The last time, before joining this show, I cried was when I watched the flick Kuch Kuch Hot Hai . But the emotional breakdown in the show was an offshoot of not being able to find trustworthy people. I couldn’t trust anybody. To me Amitji was like God. That’s why I would cry while speaking to him,” he says. And now, that he out of the confines of the house, all that Vindu is looking forward to is a table tennis match with actor Danny. Hope, he wins that too!

Vindu Dara Singh wins 'Bigg Boss 3'

Vindu Dara Singh wins 'Bigg Boss 3'

Actor Vindu Dara Singh won the third season of popular TV reality show "Bigg Boss" and walked away with prize money of Rs 1 crore. The finale of the show took place here late on Saturday.

Vindhu pipped veteran actress Poonam Dhillon and model Pravesh Rana win the show after staying in the "Bigg Boss" house since Oct 4 without any contact with the outside world.

The 45-year-old, son of former wrestling champion and actor Dara Singh, has been waiting for one big push in his career since making his film debut in 1994.

In the third season, it was Vindu's bouts of anger which became one of the main TRP-earning factors. He was often the man behind most of the plotting and planning on the show and engaged in many verbal fights with his co-contestants.

But luck worked in his favour and he received maximum votes from the public but his father never voted for him.

"'Yeh SMS karna bachchon ke liye hota hai' (Sending SMS votes is all for kids). I haven't sent any vote for Vindu. Our relatives and friends have sent votes for him," Dara Singh said.

Vindu's victory would hopefully work in his favour because even though he had his father's legacy, he couldn't script the same success story.

Vindu made his acting debut with Hindi film "Karan" (1994).

Since then, he has acted in many films, mostly in supporting roles. He has also acted in TV serials, including the role of Lord Hanuman in the serial "Jai Shri Hanuman", like his father did in the super-hit Doordarshan serial "Ramayan".

He has played negative roles in serials like "Ssshhhh...Koi Hai" and "Karma" and also did Punjabi movie "Rab Dian Rakhan" (1996), directed by his father. Vindu was recently seen in "Kambakkht Ishq" and "Partner".

Even his father is pinning his hopes that his victory on "Bigg Boss 3" would do good to his acting career as he feels his son has not got his due in the industry.

"I don't think Vindu has got many opportunities to show his acting calibre. He played Hanuman in 'Jai Shri Hanuman' for which he is remembered, but I always tell him to keep trying. Being in a famous show like 'Bigg Boss' will be very advantageous for him, but even if that doesn't work in his favour, I believe he should keep trying," he said.

The finale, hosted by megastar Amitabh Bachchan, saw performances by evicted contestants of the season like Raju Srivastav, Claudia Ciesla, Kamaal Rashid Khan, Sherlyn Chopra, Shamita Shetty, Tanaaz Currim and Aditi Govitrikar.

Rakhi Ka 'Second' Swayamvar

Rakhi Ka 'Second' Swayamvar

There is a saying 'once bitten, twice shy' but drama queen Rakhi Sawant
seems to be all set to defy the famous idiom. Last year in the first of its kind marriage reality show Rakhi Ka Swayamvar on NDTV Imagine, Rakhi had found her soul mate in Canadian born Gujarati NRI Elesh Parujanwala. The show which had soared the TRP of the channel saw Rakhi get engaged to Elesh after selecting him from a a pool of 16 potential grooms.

Many predicted Rakhi Ka Swayamvar to be a scripted reality show where Rakhi wasn't going to eventually tie the knot with anybody. Rakhi decided to get engaged to Elesh and know him before tying the knot. Soon the things turned sour for the couple media was buzzing with their fights and pot-shots. This finally led the the couple to called it quit while doing the reality show Pati Patni Aur Woh . Hard to believe that this wasn't scripted.

The drama queen says she wants another Swayamvar to select a right partner in her life but this time she will take help of her family. The actress said “The swayamvar was an opportunity to find my perfect man. However, things didn't go the right way. Shayad mera bad luck tha.” As of now sources in NDTV Imagine are tight-lipped about a second show with Rakhi. It remains to be seen if Rakhi get another Swayamvar and is able to convince or fool the audience.

Aditi keen on doing more reality shows

Aditi keen on doing more reality shows

Model-turned-actress Aditi Govitrikar had maintained a low profile before her entry in Bigg Boss, but after her elimination is eager to feature in more such programmes.

"I am quite keen on doing more reality shows now that Bigg Boss is over for me. I'd like to participate in some dance shows or be a judge or advisor on some show on fashion or fashion trends. That should be fun, so I am looking forward to all this," Aditi said.

The 33-year-old was evicted from the third season of Bigg Boss on Friday, leaving Vindu Dara Singh, Poonam Dhillon, Pravesh Rana and Bakhtiyaar Irani to compete for the final title.

Asked about her stint on the show, Aditi said: "It's been quite a learning experience for me. We have always been told not to take people on face value because they can deceive. On this show, I have seen it come true and it came as quite a shock. I think I will be more careful in dealing with people now."

Aditi, who divorced her husband of 10 years earlier this year, says she was extremely shocked to discover how designer Rohit Verma backstabbed her on the show.

"Rohit used to come to me every single day and tell me things like 'Aditi, you're such a nice person at heart' and 'I feel comfortable talking to you'. But when his video was shown to the housemates, I was stunned at his planning," she said.

For Aditi, the worst part about being in Bigg Boss was staying away from her two children.

"I have never been away from my children for so long. I really missed them a lot and that's also why I didn't cry on the show. I knew my children would be watching the programme and my tears would hurt them. So the show was the biggest challenge for me as a mother," she said.

Though Aditi has no complaints about her eviction, she regrets that she had to leave the show when she was so close to the finals.

"It had been 77 days in the house. And to be at this stage and be evicted is painful. But it's okay. When my eviction was announced, it was fine. But I wasn't expecting it," she said.

Now, Aditi is hoping that her good friend Bakhtiyaar Irani takes away the laurels on the show because she feels he is a "good contender".

"Bakhtiyaar is a good contender for the finals. Pravesh can give him tough competition but his victory would be unfair because he entered much later than all of us.

"Nevertheless, both of them play a fair game, put across their points up front and don't speak behind the back. But Bakhtiyaar would always be my first choice for the winner," she added

Top ten TV shows of 2009

Soap operas crowded the small screen, but it was Balika Vadhu and Bandini - serials with a rural backdrop - that were the big hits. Reality shows like Sach Ka Saamna and Rakhi Ka Swayamvar also found many takers in 2009.

Here's a pick of 10 fiction and non-fiction shows that captivated audiences this year.

1. Rakhi Ka Swayamvar - Item girl Rakhi Sawant left the nation shocked when she decided to find a suitable life partner through the reality show. It brought unprecedented TRPs for the channel, but Rakhi failed to sustain her engagement to Toronto-based businessman Elesh Parujanwala, whom she found through the show.

2. Balika Vadhu - Set in rural Rajasthan, the family drama changed the face of Indian television in 2008 and continued to rule the charts this year with its gripping script. It deals with grave social issues like child marriage, perils of teen pregnancy and mismatched marriage.

3. Sach Ka Saamna - The Indian version of popular American reality show The Moment of Truth, Sach Ka... hosted by Rajeev Khandelwal featured contestants who had to answer 21 questions, the authenticity of which was determined by a polygraph machine. Though the government expressed its ire against "vulgarity" on the show, it hasn't stopped the channel from planning its second season.

4. Agle Janam Mohe Bitiya Hi Kijo - Another top rated rural-based show Agle Janam... revolves around the plight of a poor girl Laali who strives to help her family financially. But she is later sold off to a rich landlord by her parents. The show has proved to be a worthy replacement for the hugely popular soap Kasamh Se.

5. Dance Premier League - This big ticket dance show not only brought actress Rani Mukerji to the small screen but also provided a platform to dancing teams from different zones across India. The show is nearing its finale.

6. Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai - Speaking volumes about Indian tradition and culture, the show narrates the story of love finding its way into arranged marriages and how two strangers bond and blossom together after entering matrimony. Lead characters Naitik and Akshara have become household names.

7. Bigg Boss 3 - In its third season, Bigg Boss promised to get bigger and it certainly did by roping in megastar Amitabh Bachchan to host it. The show started with a mix of 12 celebrities, including Rakhi Sawant's mother Jaya, Bhojpuri actor Kamaal Rashid Khan and Vindu Dara Singh. The show provided ample drama.

8. Bandini - Based in a Gujarat village, Balaji Telefilms production's, Bandini, is about a young girl Santu who is forced to marry a much older Dharam Raj, played by seasoned actor Ronit Roy. The show traces Santu's trials and tribulations while adjusting with the family and how love surfaces between her and her husband. The show is liked for its simplicity.

Manish Goel to host Mahayatra

Manish Goel to host Mahayatra

Dance and music based reality shows are passé as viewers will get to see yet another reality show with a novel concept on Star Plus titled Mahayatra. The show is about doting sons taking their parents to the four pilgrimages (Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri, Jamnotri) of the country. Mahayatra that apparently commenced with 12 families has now whittled down to just three families. The entourage is currently shooting at Badrinath. It is also heard that the show will be hosted by Manish Goel. Goel was last seen in the dance reality show Zara nach ke dikha on Star One.

Informs a source, “The show is being produced by Miditech. Mahayatra has a unique concept and we are trying to bring out the Indian values such as respecting your parents and fulfilling their wishes with this show. It will have an emotional connect with the audience as they will get to see how a doting son will fulfill his parents’ wishes to visit the chaardhams (four pilgrimages). The show will launch sometime next month. We have roped in actor Manish Goel to host the show. He is very religious and a family man so was deemed fit for the job.”

We tried contacting the actor but he remained unavailable. We also sent a text message to Anupama Mandloi, Sr. Creative Director Star Plus, but she didn’t revert.

Rahul Mahajan pushes back Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega

Rahul Mahajan pushes back Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega

Rahul Mahajan is apparently very serious about his upcoming swayamvar which is to be aired on NDTV Imagine.

Nikhil Madhok, VP, Marketing and Communication NDTV Imagine says "Rahul, son of slain BJP leader Pramod Mahajan has asked for kundalis of all the 16 finalists to be matched with him so that there are no complications later while he chooses one of te as his better-half. Rahul has even got the launch date of his show, Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega postponed in order to schedule the final on an auspicious date as fixed by his astrologer," added the channel official.

But Nikhil got defensive when asked whether Rahul would also do a Rakhi Sawant and go back on the wedding promise. "Rakhi too wanted to get married to Elesh, but as you saw on Pati Patni aur Woh, differences arose between the couple. Rahul is a different person and he will surely follow his heart." He also tried to justify having such colorful personalities on the show by saying no other "single" celeb is willing to get married on national television as the format demands".

Let us hope that Rahul at least for the sake of Imagine, does find his Dulhaniya, else the channel will face a lot of embarrassing questions, a second time around.

“Sach Ka Saamna-2” comes again to bring out harsh secrets

“Sach Ka Saamna-2” comes again to bring out harsh secrets

The most controversial reality show of recent times “Sach Ka Saamna” is all set for a comeback in season 2. The show has celebrities as well as common people shedding their inhibitions to reveal truth about their lives.

The show is an Indian adaptation of popular American reality show “The Moment of Truth” that features contestants who have to answer 21 questions about their personal lives. A polygraph machine determines whether their answers are true or not.

The first season of the show was on air on 16th July’09 and was a huge hit with various people as contestants daring the deepest secrets of their lives for the sake of the prize amount of a maximum of 1million INR.

At the same time, the show had its own share of controversies when celebrities like Vinod Kambli and Rupa Ganguly and transsexual guests like Bobby Darling and Laxmi Narayan Tripathi revealed their bravest secrets. There were non-celebrity guests too who fought for the prize money inspite of getting troubled in the family.

Some people demanded that the show should be stopped as it has morally unacceptable issues and gross misconducts by the guests. The private and sensitive issues shouldn’t be discussed on television, argued some. But there were people who liked the concept and applauded the contestants for having the guts to reveal all in public glare.

Prior to the second season of the show, the I&B department has already warned Star Plus to have a check on the issues and contents in the show advising the channel to keep in view the “Indian ethos and culture”.

The second season host is not yet finalized while Rajeev Khandelwal was hosting the first part.

Let’s sit and watch who to play a host for this bold game show this time in Sach Ka Saamna 2
