Rahul Mahajan gives visit to finalists homes

From Delhi to Pune to Faridabad and Kolkata, Rahul’s visits to the finalists’ (Harpreet, Mrinmai, Nikunj and Dimpy) homes. While preparations are on in full swing at the Mahajan household, celebrations don’t seem to stop at these four cities either.

They are all set to welcome dulhe raja. In true Punjabi style, band baaja and bhangra gidda welcomed Rahul at Harpreet’s home in Delhi. Mrinmai’s mother in Pune welcomed her prospective son-in-law by cleaning his feet before he entered! At Nikunj's home in Faridabad, he was gifted a collage of Pramod Mahajan's pictures. Rahul said this was the best and most thoughtful gift he’d ever got.

Dimpy took Rahul around Kolkata. They went to Victoria Terminus and Babughat. For Dimpy, Babughat is one of the most romantic places and she always wanted to bring the one she loved to this place. Don’t miss all this drama on Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega on Imagine this week.

I always wanted to get married to Rahul Mahajan: Priyadarshani Singh

I always wanted to get married to Rahul Mahajan: Priyadarshani Singh

It has always been Priyadarshani Singh's dream to marry Rahul Mahajan. So when the reality show Rahul Dulhania Le Jayega was launched on NDTV Imagine, she promptly auditioned.

Unfortunately, the 24-year-old girl's dream was short-lived.

Priyadarshini, who hails from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, talks about her elimination from the show, and who she thinks will be the future Mrs Rahul Mahajan.

How was your experience on the show?

I've always dreamt of meeting Rahul Mahajan. I had a huge crush on him, so getting an opportunity to spend time with him was an experience of a lifetime. My experience on this show has been fantastic. Being in Fatehgarh was like living in a fantasy world.

Do you think you got enough time to spend with Rahul Mahajan?

Not really. Honestly, during my entire journey on this show, I never had a one-on-one date with Rahul. But I will not say that he was unfair to me. I made the most of whatever time I got to spend with him. Marriage is a sacred institution and it's Rahul's decision.

Why do you think you were eliminated?

I think I was too honest. I wished I could be more diplomatic. I can't be fake. I always give honest opinions. That could be the reason.

How did your friends and family react to your eviction?

They were astonished. They wanted me to fulfill my dream and win.

Ganga kinare wala Manmohan Tiwari was ready to marry Rakhi

Ganga kinare wala Manmohan Tiwari was ready to marry Rakhi

The Ganga kinare wala, as he came to be known on Rakhi Ka Swayamvar is quite open about the fact that he considered the show as a stepping stone into the world of acting, something that has come true with the show Jamunia. “But why is the finger being pointed at me? Even Rakhi was playing a game and if she was not questioned, then why me? She fooled 16 men but thankfully God spared me,” he says. But what if the item girl had actually gone ahead and selected him as her pati? “Toh hum shaadi kar lete. Then I would have taken her to Bihar with me, seen if she is able to milk cows, make dungcakes and if she would be able to take care of my parents. If she would have been able to do all that for two months, then I would have been with her all her life,” he adds.

And what would he say to her if he came across her, considering they both are in the TV industry now? He laughs, “Kya kahenge? Jai Ram Ji Ki kahenge!”

On seeing that his co-passenger was the legendary superstar, Rahul went up to him and bowed to touch his feet and seek blessing. A Big Chemistry develops between Rahul Mahajan and Dimpy on RDLJ

While Rahul Mahajan is meeting each and every bride on his swayamvar reality show, 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega', he is getting closer to 21-year-old Dimpy Ganguly from Kolkata. Dimpy is a model and TV anchor and knows how to impress people.

Alth [Dimpy Ganguly RDLJ] ough most of the girls on RDLJ are 'shrewd' and 'smart' enough to make any guy grovel at their feet, Dimpy has been able to leave a great impression on Rahul Mahajan, may be because of looks, style and right attitude.

Out of over 16,000 applicants across the country, Rahul had chosen only 15 girls and some of them are already out of the show. The competition is between Dimpy, Harpreet, Mrinmay, Nikunj and Swati. They are the girls, who can make it to the top.

While Rahul seems to be deeply involved with Dimpy Ganguly, he is also inching closer to Harpreet and Nikunj. While Harpreet is stylish and smart, Nikunj possesses a never-say-die attitude. She is quite convinced that she can make any guy fall at her feet, if she wishes so. She can make the right move at a right time.

Mrinmay Kolwalker is a bit strong and jealous and she wants Rahul at any cost. Swati knows how to deal with the situation. Don't be surprised, if you see Dimpy, Harpreet, Nikunj, Mrinmay and Swati in the top five. However, there are a few other girls, who can prove themselves as dark horses. Obviously, Rahul Mahajan is enjoying!!!

Ram Kapoor's perception about Rahul Mahajan has changed

Ram Kapoor's perception about Rahul Mahajan has changed

TV actor Ram Kapoor says he always thought of Rahul Mahajan as a notorious guy, but his perception changed when he met him on the sets of the reality show "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega"

"I got to meet Rahul for the first time on the sets of this show. Whatever I knew of him was through articles that I had read about his various scandals. So I formed an opinion that maybe he is wild and immature. But all that drastically changed when I met him," said Ram, who is hosting the show.

"He is a very different man underneath. He is very emotional and sensitive," he added.

"Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega", which comes on NDTV Imagine, is an attempt to find a suitable match for Rahul through a worldwide search.

Rahul to take home a bride soon

Rahul to take home a bride soon

NDTV imagine is all set to trot out the second season of its Swayamvar franchise, titled Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega.

The earlier season which picked Rakhi Sawant as the prospective bride-to-be, witnessed contenders going through a series of tasks to test their personality, character, physical fitness, talent and also their compatibility.

The show which was a smash hit after it kicked off on air had weaved a considerable amount of footage for the channel.

Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega
Focusing on open trendy marriages, once again the channel plans to invite everyone to the wedding of the season. For this, they have roped in the popular son of the late BJP politician Pramod Mahajan, Rahul Mahajan.

Rahul will be dressed in sherwani and has been given a chance to go through a catalog of 15 prospective brides to eventually select his dream life partner.

Rahul Mahajan, whose television career had really kicked off with Bigg Boss Season 2 is back on TV with this show.

As the starting point Rahul along with the production team of the show is said to have picked out 15 contestants out of the 9,000 applicants.

Rahul talks about marriage
Rahul who is more than happy to grace the screen in style, is recovering from a bitter marriage with ex-wife Shweta.

However, Rahul is all excited about getting married again.

When asked about himself he informed, “As a person, I am honest, fun loving and genuine. I know girls will like me because I like to be myself.”

Last year, in Rakhi Ka Swayamvar, Rakhi ditched the audience by parting ways with Elesh (who had won the show).

When asked about his view on this Rahul said, “I am not responsible for what Rakhi did last year. I think it’s unfair to compare me with her since we are not interconnected in any way. I am going to get married for sure.”

The show will also feature Ram Kapoor who has been roped in again for the second season.

Many other small screen artistes will also make an appearance as guests for the groom-to-be.

Sambhava Seth has been given the role of sister-in-law, who was incidentally in Mahajan’s camp in the Bigg Boss house. She is said to have made a couple
of visits to the sets and even actively participated in the screening process.

Verdict on 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega'

Verdict on 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega'

What is it about? NDTV Imagine declares Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega to be the second season of their Swayamvar franchise. In the first, they had drama queen Rakhi Sawant choose her prospective bridegroom, by putting all claimants through a series of ‘tasks’ to test their compatibility with her. This time around, Rahul Mahajan, the now-popular son of the late BJP politician Pramod Mahajan, has donned a dressy sherwani and is going through a roster of 15 prospective brides to ultimately choose a life partner.

Who’s in it? Mahajan, whose television career kicked off with Bigg Boss Season 2, has along with the production team of the show, handpicked these 15 contestants out of the 9,000 applicants eager to marry him. Television star Ram Kapoor, who also hosted the first season, is back as the matchmaker. During the course of the show, other minor celebrities will also come as guests to help the would-be groom make up his mind about his life partner. For example, Sambhavna Seth, Mahajan’s fellow-inmate in the Bigg Boss house, recently paid a visit to the sets as his sister and screened the various girls to fit the role of her sister-in-law.

NDTV Imagine's "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" sees High TRP

NDTV Imagine's "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" sees High TRP

As expected, NDTV Imagine's latest Swayamvar reality show, "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" has seen a sharp increase on its TRP, even the show is just a week old. The Swayamvar Season 2, featuring Rahul Mahajan, has hit the TV screens on February 1.

Out of 15 contestants, three were eliminated during the first week and Rahul is now left with 12 beautiful, gorgeous and intelligent girls. It's not easy for him to pick up a girl of his choice without the help of Ram Kapoor, his wife and 'sister' Sambhavna Seth.

According to latest reports, two NRI girls, who were Rahul Mahajan's favourites, are being introduced to the show soon. They could not get the work permit earlier, but now are all set.

One of the NRI girls, Devinder Sidhu, is VJ Teejay Sidhu’s sister, while other NRI girl was identified as Shannti Dinnoo. While the show is rising on TRP, the biggest question still remains unresolved. Will Rahul Mahajan marry or do what Rakhi Sawant did in the end?

Romance is in the air

Romance is in the air

Rahul Mahajan has surely managed to surprise everyone who’s watched Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega on NDTV Imagine, the show that’s becoming the talk of the town.

The would-be-groom is fully involved in all aspects of what happens on the show. According to sources on the set, Rahul likes to be involved in the minutest details, especially when it comes to planning the dates with the lovely ladies!

Take his date with Nikunj Malik, one of the contestants from Faridabad. She won a date with Rahul and was expecting a run-of-the-mill dinner, but Rahul had many surprises up his sleeve.

It began with a doli that went to pick her up for the date. A special lunch was arranged at the beautiful Devigarh Palace. Dressed in a tuxedo, Rahul welcomed her at the palace with a shower of rose petals following which he took her to the hotel boutique to buy a gown of her choice.

He then proceeded to gift her with a beautiful necklace as well before proceeding for lunch. Says Fazila Allana, producer of the show, “The reality of Rahul is quite different from what he is perceived to be. He has always stressed the importance of ensuring that the girls are well taken care of, given that they are far away from home and have no family around them. It’s really sweet to see the care he takes. I’m sure he will find a woman who will truly love him for what he is.”

Rakhi Sawant threatens to go on hunger strike

Rakhi Sawant threatens to go on hunger strike

"I'll wait for a week and then I go on a 'bhookh hartaal' in front of the censor office," Rakhi shared.

The always-in-the-news actress said: "Fearlessly I've sent a legal notice to the censor board. This is the first time something like this has happened. Others do chamchagiri of the censor board. Not me. I'm Rakhi Sawant. Main ishwar ki beti hoon (I'm god's daughter).

"The censor board has done me injustice by deleting the word 'kameeni' from my song. I won't take it lying down. Dharmendra has been saying the word 'kameeney' for years. Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Kaminey' came, were the censors asleep?

"There're heroines doing love-making scenes with their bare backs showing. Bharadwaj's films invariably have characters mouthing 'maa-bahen galis'. If Rakhi Sawant sings 'Kameeni tera bhoot chad gaya re', the censor board gets stung. The song has been produced by my company Faith Inc and I'm being damaged."

The argument that the word 'kameeni' is inappropriate on television holds no water for Rakhi.

"Kyon (why)? In the trailers of 'Ishqiya', they show Vidya Balan punch-drunk on television, and that too in a sari. Is that allowed in our culture? What was 'Choli ke peeche kya hai?' If that can be aired for years, why can't my song be telecast?"

Rakhi then takes off on television serials.

"Look at serials like 'Uttaran', 'Bairi Piya' and 'Bandini'. Young girls are being shown getting raped and forced to marry underage men. Women get married repeatedly, sometimes five times. Isn't this against the Indian laws? Isn't this against Indian culture? What is the censor board doing about such practices?

"Rakhi Sawant uses the word 'kameeni' and it becomes a dirty word. In serials, we have men dragging their wives by their hair muttering 'Kameeni main tujhe chodunga nahin'. No one pays any attention. Why point a finger at me?

"Stop all the malpractice on television and I too will shut up. We live in a corrupt and hypocritical democracy where the institutions appointed to monitor morality are bribed. Producers go with bulging suitcases and get their films passed. Aisa nahin chalega (It won't work)."

Rahul to go to a tropical land for honeymoon!

Rahul to go to a tropical land for honeymoon!

Well, various speculations being made if Rahul Mahajan will really marry one of the 15 ladies on the reality show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega. However, Rahul seems to have made it clear that he will surely marry one of the girls and take her along with him.

And after his marriage he has an interesting plan for his honeymoon. Rahul says, “I agreed to be part of this show because I wanted to marry this way. I thought it would make a romantic story to tell my children and grandchildren. After my wedding, I will go on my honeymoon to a tropical land.”

Well, girls on the show must be really excited after knowing this.

Do Rahul Mahajan wants a NRI girl for him?

Do Rahul Mahajan wants a NRI girl for him?

While whole of the country is still wondering whether Rahul Mahajan will actually marry a girl on his swayamwar, reports are there that the son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan is very much serious about his marriage and is leaving no stone unturned for selecting the perfect bride, even if it take to marry an NRI.

Rahul has sortlisted two babes, Devinder Sidhu and Shati Dinno, but initially the girls were not allowed to participate on the show.

But now, the two NRI girls are all set to woo Rahul with their uniqe sense of style and humour on th show.

Well, all can we say that, Rahul, if you wanted to end up with an NRI, the 15 girls would not have participated.

Girls from the show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega would come to the jharokha

Girls from the show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega would come to the jharokha

The going gets tougher for our Dulhe Raja, thanks to none other than Rahul’s prospective dulhans! The mischievous brigade of girls decided to play a trick on him and their partner-in-crime Ram Kapoor played perfect host here as well.

One by one, the girls from the show Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega would come to the jharokha (large window) with their faces covered with their dupattas and address Rahul as ‘Aji Sunte Ho’ in different accents. Bechara Rahul had to identify all the girls by their names. The girls exchanged their dupattas, rings and bangles to make it tougher for him. But our groom played it safe! Every girl who came to the jharokha, Rahul would address her as Twinkle. While others were disappointed, Twinkle stood smiling confidently waiting for her turn to call ‘Aji Sunte Ho’. Incidentally, he recognised five out of 12 girls. Was Twinkle the lucky one in these?

Rahul Mahajan gets a surprise

Rahul Mahajan gets a surprise

Rahul Mahajan got a pleasant surprise from the channel when they brought in his two favorite NRI girls into the competition, the very ones who could not make it into the final 15 contestants' line-up as they did not get the required work permit to come to India.

According to our source, "Rahul had taken a kind of fascination to these two pretty NRI girls, Devinder Sidhu and Shannti Dinnoo, and had in fact chosen them to be in the starting line-up in his Swayamvar show on NDTV Imagine, Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jaayega. However, this did not happen as the channel could not get them the much-needed work permit, as they were foreign nationals. It is heard that Rahul had then requested the channel to do something to get them into the show".

And to the surprise of Rahul, the channel did manage to clear the issue and they have now included the two girls, who will be introduced in tomorrow's episode. "This has surely brought a big smile on Rahul's face, but this news has not gone down well with the other 15 contestants who were found frowning at the sudden inclusion of two new competitors into the show, and that too after one week of serious drama", adds our source.

The two girls might have bowled Rahul in the first round, but they surely have their task cut out, as they will have to face the wrath of the other 15 contestants now. For the uninitiated, Devinder Sidhu happens to be the sister of popular VJ Teejay Sidhu who is married to actor Karnvir Bohra.

Abhishek gets a Bingo opening

Abhishek gets a Bingo opening

Abhishek Bachchan’s debut TV game show Bingo opened to a TRP of 5.1, the highest for any non-fiction show since 2008. Shah Rukh Khan’s Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hai?, Salman Khan’s 10 Ka Dum and even Amitabh Bachchan’s Bigg Boss had opened to a 4-plus rating. Of course, the first episode had senior Bachchan as the celebrity guest, which undoubtedly was a major attraction. That week, Colors crossed the 350 GRPs mark for the second time since its launch with 365 GRPs.

A fall before a hit
Did you know Kajol can cry at the drop of a hat without the use of glycerine? Or that she can shed a tear from whichever eye the director wants! This was revealed by one of her best friends Karan Johar on his show Lift Kara De. Another interesting nugget revealed by the affable host is that whenever Kajol had a fall while shooting for a film, that movie became a huge hit. During the shoot of Karan’s first film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kajol fell while filming a cycling scene and the movie was a blockbuster. Next, she had a bad fall when she was shooting for Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham... and we know that the film was a huge hit. It seems during an event for My Name Is Khan, the light-eyed heroine fell and instead of coming to her aid, the entire unit was celebrating (an omen for an impending hit). “Nobody bothered to find out whether I was fine,” grumbles Kajol on the show. It will be aired on February 5 and 6, at 8 pm.

Rahul in a dilemma
Rahul Mahajan is nervous and excited about his swayamvar. “It’s the first time a swayamvar is being held for a guy,” he grins. What’s more he’s flattered with the kind of response it has evoked from the girls, which is better than what he expected. “I am having a tough time deciding on the girl because one is beautiful, another is intellectual and yet another has a good nature,” he shares as the show begins. He, however is looking for a genuine person with a sense of humour and honesty and promises to offer the same qualities to his would-be. When asked if he would really marry at the end of the show or like his predecessor Rakhi Sawant he will back out, he emphatically says that he is not here to find a girlfriend or a fiancee. “I have taken my mother’s blessings and they are expecting a bahu,” he signs off.

Romance back in Bidaai
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, serials are trying to bring romance on the tube. Rajan Shahi’s Sapna Babul Ka - Bidaai, which had become dramatic of late, is trying to get mushy now. Kinshuk Mahajan (playing Ranveer) is back from jail and Parul Chauhan (Ragini) has had a miscarriage. The couple will bond again while Angad Hasija (Alekh), who is totally recovered from his mental ailment, will start romancing Sadhna (Sara Khan) once again.

Whose credit is it anyway?
Dheeraj Kumar’s new show Yeh Pyar Na Hoga Kam is courting controversies since its launch. To begin with the writer Rajita Sharma, who was also co-producing the show, was said to have been forced to quit as producer and Creative Eye became the sole producer. Sharma has gone to court for being denied credit for her creative inputs on the show after the first few episodes. When contacted, Dheeraj Kumar said, “I have always believed in giving credit where it is due but since this matter is sub-judice I cannot comment.” There’s also talk that the channel is unhappy with the show as its rating is between 2.3 - 2.7. But Kumar is unperturbed. “Uttaran in its initial 100 episodes had a rating of just 2.6 but today it is the top-rated show with 8 TRPs. We have completed just 20 episodes on air. The channel has a strategy for every show,” he explains.

Behnein on STAR Plus
J.D. Majethia is calling it the mother of all soaps. His new serial Behnein that will be aired on STAR Plus from February 8 is obviously about sisters, in this case four, which means there are four protagonists in the show. Majethia, who is known for his slice-of-life soaps Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Khichdi, etc is moving away from this genre to present a soap high on drama. “The story of each sister is such that I could have made four shows but I decided to make one with four interesting stories,” says J.D. Starring Ketaki Dave, Shruti Ulfat and Darshan Jariwala in pivotal roles, it has four new girls Alisha, Shiju, Ada and Ojeshwi playing the protagonists.

NCW against Rahul Mahajan's Swayamvar

NCW against Rahul Mahajan's Swayamvar

The National Commission for Women (NCW) asked the information and broadcasting ministry to ensure that NDTV Imagine's reality show "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" does not portray women in an indecent manner.

"We have sent a letter to the information and broadcasting ministry to ensure there is no indecent portrayal of women in the programme," NCW Chairperson Girija Vyas told reporters here.

Rahul Mahajan, son of late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, will begin his quest for a bride on TV starting Monday.

He will choose from a total of 15 women who were selected after much scrutiny from over 16,000 applicants from across the country.

Vyas said the rights body had also raised concerns during another show 'Sach Ka Saamna' aired on Star Plus last year.

How lucky would Rahul Mahajan be for NDTV Imagine?

How lucky would Rahul Mahajan be for NDTV Imagine?

After Rakhi Sawant's much talked about Swayamvar, NDTV Imagine has set the stage for Rahul Mahajan's wedding.

Rakhi Ka Swayamvar proved to be lucky for the channel last year, garnering an average TVR of 2.8. In fact, the final episode garnered a TVR of 8.4 (C&S, 4+, HSM).

The question is whether NDTV Imagine will be second time lucky with Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega.

In its first avatar, Rakhi Ka Swayamvar engrossed the viewers for two reasons - first, it was a new format, so viewers were generally inquisitive; and second, Rakhi provided her own brand of entertainment. However, many viewers felt cheated, when the show did not culminate in marriage, but only in an engagement between the winner and Rakhi.

As Amit Ray, president and COO, Lintas Media Group, comments, "There was a lot of backlash post the show last year; it didn't fulfil its major objective, 'marriage', and turned out as a joke. NDTV Imagine has experimented with newer formats, but again, people felt cheated in Season 1. Unless there is a twist in the content, this one will be a letdown too."

This is why the channel, this time, has ensured that Mahajan keeps on saying, "It's a Shaadi, not a Swayamvar".

To establish the seriousness on Mahajan's part, Nikhil Madhok, vice-president, marketing, communication and brand management, NDTV Imagine, claims that Mahajan has selected girls for the show with whom his horoscope has matched; and the grand finale of the show will be held on the day suggested by Mahajan's astrologer.

However, other industry observers feel that the show could be watched for the entertainment quotient, irrespective of whether or not Mahajan gets married in the end. As Manas Mishra, head, Mudra Connext, opines, "Rakhi Ka Swayamvar made the channel's share of television go up by 40 per cent last year. Just one programme delivered a huge dividend. But subsequently, it came down after the show went off-air. Swayamvar is a known concept and adding new things can only make it interesting. Rahul Mahajan earned popularity through Big Boss Season 2 and this show will take it further."

Another media observer, Nikhil Rangnekar, executive director, West, Starcom India, suggests, "While Rakhi found favour with male audiences; with Rahul, things may be diametrically opposite. People might watch the show for the sake of format."

A similar opinion is voiced by Pintoo Guha, the producer of Uttran on Colors. He says, "It's not always necessary to intellectualise this medium of entertainment. At time the viewers would just like to sit back and enjoy the television."

To reassert the expected success of the show, Madhok says, "This year, the registration for participating in the show has increased by 40 per cent." While last year, the total registration was 12,515; this year, the figure has gone up to 16,755. However, one should also keep in the mind the eagerness that exists to participate in a reality show.

The channel has made room for Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega in the early primetime slot of 8-9 pm. For this, the show, Meera, which currently airs at 8 pm, will go off-air; and one of the channel's more popular shows, Jyoti, will be shifted to the 7:30 pm slot.

As part of the promotional activities for the show, hoardings stating 'Who is going to be Mrs Rahul Mahajan' are seen all over the city. Another activity involves putting up special hoardings in localities such as Mahim, Bandra and Juhu. On this hoarding, Mahajan will be seen with a palanquin, in which the face cut-outs of the girls will be placed. The palanquin will unveil 'on and off'.

I'll definitely marry on TV: Rahul Mahajan

I'll definitely marry on TV: Rahul Mahajan

Rahul Mahajan says he will definitely marry the woman he chooses through NDTV Imagine's reality show "Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega" unlike Rakhi Sawant, whose televised 'swayamvar' came to an end with a broken engagement.

"See the name of my show is 'Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega'. The title itself says that I will take my bride home. I will definitely marry. In fact, the finale of the show will show my wedding only," Rahul told IANS at Udaipur's Fatehgarh Palace, where the show is being shot amid a lavish set.

Rahul, son of late Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Pramod Mahajan, will begin his quest for a bride on TV starting Monday. He will choose from a total of 15 women who were selected after much scrutiny from over 16,000 applicants from across the country.

Among these, around seven are associated with the glamour industry in one form or the other. There are also small-time news anchors, models, directors, a law student, a BJP activist and an undergraduate student.

Asked about his choice of women from the media sector, Rahul joked: "Maybe they have been watching me a lot."

"Seriously, I think there are girls from all facets of life - whether from human resource management, fashion designing, media professionals or whatever. I think we have picked up different women from various fields and sections of society," he added.

Rahul says he is looking for three qualities in a woman - "honesty, genuineness and a sense of humour". And the biggest put-offs for him are dishonesty and melodrama.

"I think everyone should be happy all the time. I want my wife also to be happy all the time; what else does one want?" he said.

According to Rahul, who had a broken marriage with his childhood friend Shweta Singh, says if his father would have been alive, he would have been proud about Rahul's decision of remarrying.

"My father had a wish that I should get married, go on a honeymoon, have kids. He wanted to have a grandchild - it would have made him happy; so in a way I am trying to fulfil his wish. He would have been proud," he said.

But then why did he have to launch a national search for a bride on television?

"Did the media feel like leaving me alone when I got married first or at the time I was facing problems? Did the media ever leave my private life? In the past three years I have not got any privacy. Since 2006, the media has been covering every activity of mine. So whenever I marry next, it will go live - I know it.

"The only difference now with this show would be that it would be shown on a single channel, unlike before when all news channels would have got the footage," he said.

Sambhavana helps Rahul choose bride!

Sambhavana helps Rahul choose bride!

The atmosphere around Fatehgarh Palace is tense…the brides-to-be have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of their celebrity ‘nanad’ (sister-in-law) Sambhavana Seth on the sets of Imagine’s ‘Rahul Dulhaniya Le Jayega’.

The moment finally arrives and the ‘dulhe raja’ (bridegroom) Rahul Mahajan heaves a sigh of relief as his sister cum friend is here to help him make one of the most important decisions of his life.

Marriage is a sacred institution, and so is the bond between a ‘nanad-bhabhi’ special.

Taking charge of the situation, Sambhavana shot various questions at the girls in front of Rahul to gage their personality.

Most of the girls were caught unawares and few of them fumbled!

Some girls came across as confident while some came across as genuine.

However, Sambhavana was not going to leave anything to chance.

She requested Rahul to leave her and the girls alone so that they could spend some time together get to know them better.

The girls were nervous as well as tense. What if Sambhavana disapproves of them? Or will she put in a good word for them to Rahul? What followed next was a serious grilling session between the girls and Sambhavana on a one-on-one basis?

While some were cross-questioned about their motive of coming on the show, others got comfortable and confided in her, while some others got along with Sambhavana like a house on fire.

That’s not all! To ease the tension in air post their tete-e-tete, Sambhavana decided to break the ice with the girls by dancing with them.

The girls were amazed at Sambhavana’s dance moves and learnt a few of her signature latkas and jhatkas.

However, what these girls are unaware of is that the girl who manages to carve a niche for herself in Sambhavana’s heart will be gifted with something special that will also save her from being eliminated for an entire week! Now isn’t this the beauty of a good nanad-bhabhi relationship?
