Effect of Sach Ka Samna on the spectators’ mind
So, finally Star Plus has decided to change the time slot of its popular and most controversial show ‘Sach Ka Samna’. The show has become poular within a very short time but I feel it’s a negative popularity. Cracking some practical joke with somebody is acceptable but forcing someone to reveal things that are very much personal and private in front of audience is not something very applauding. The show evoked controversy from its very initial stage by making former Indian cricketer Vinod Kambli reveal his true feeling about master blaster Sachin Tendulkar. But was it needed at all? Why should people be forced to answer questions that they are not willing to? Is this a police enquiry where a hidden truth can help solving a mystery or catch a culprit? And why should people without any criminal or corruption charge go for polygraphic tests? Is this a detective squad or what?
Yes, from the point of view of TRP, Sach Ka Samna has been a very successful venture for Star Plus. It is undoubtedly the most talked about talk show in the country but this is certainly not the way to increase your TRP. Housewives are being questioned about their past lives, their extra-marital affairs and even professional lives, which are making family lives difficult for them? And not only is the show revealing the secrets in front of the audience but the entire nation is watching the show at a time. Once the show is over, the participants are becoming public figures. They are getting recognised easily. Once the secret of your life gets revealed your image gets changed to everybody. Just imagine yourself as a participant of Sach Ka Samna. You may have some dark past. May be its an affair, a crime, a mistake or may be a professional issue? Would you be the same person to your wife/husband, your friends or your company management?
This is nothing but interference in somebody’s personal life which shouldn’t be tolerated at any cost? You can’t force somebody to reveal secrets of his/her life in front of people and if you apply medical process for doing that it’s a crime. Even the police and the state-run investigating agency do not use the polygraphic test too often. So how can a television channel be allowed to do that just for the sake of entertainment? I wonder why people are not protesting against this show! Making life difficult for somebody cannot be a form of entertainment. I feel changing time slot is not enough, the channel should immediately stop the telecast of Sach Ka Samna’!
