I ensured I wasn't hurtful to Bobby Darling: Rajeev
Being sensitive to Bobby Darling was just one of the many concerns that Rajeev Khandelwal had when he started hosting the show Sach Ka Saamna
If Bobby faced her moment of truth with a mix of emotion and poise as a guest on Sach Ka Saamna, Laxmi Narayan Tripathi was feisty and full of beans. But that didn't stop Rajeev from worrying that he would offend Laxmi.
"I really hesitated to use the word hijra on Sach Ka Saamna," says Rajeev on the latest episode of Headlines Today's weekly interview show Star Trek. "But I checked with the research department and with Babu ( Sach Ka Saamna producer Siddhartha Basu). I was told that the fears are all in my mind. Babu told me Laxmi is proud of who she is, that she would end up educating me about her community, and that I need not worry at all."
Rajeev first shot into the limelight when he starred as Sujal in the late-night soap Kahiin To Hoga. He quit the show when it was at its peak to find his way in films.
In 2008, he made his film debut with the offbeat terror saga Aamir. As he gets set to shoot for half a dozen films in the coming months, Rajeev's enjoying the spotlight as the host of the highly controversial and tremendously successful game show Sach Ka Saamna.
In a rare interview, Rajeev tells Headlines Today's Entertainment Editor Anna M.M. Vetticad about his own addiction to Sach Ka Saamna, about how he's never recovered from being rejected by the Gladrags Manhunt organisers because of his height, about going shirtless for a film, and most of all, about his fear of being turned down by a woman.
India's most popular reality show host of the moment confesses on Star Trek: "I'm stumped when guests flirt with me on Sach Ka Saamna."
